Life, Unlife and Existence

Since the times when mummies and their already dead friends started to "contemplate the meaning of existence" why they are "dying" (You die...) when HP reaches zero value? Why not "Your existence is over" (another version is "Your unholy existence is over") or "Your body crumbles into pieces (or dust)".

Sorry for my bad english. May be this a tweak and should be reported using Mantis?

IMHO, "You cease to exist" to those races which are not providing ghosts, otherwise "you die".

If we're going to tweak the "You die..." messages for specific (undead) races, then I think that player mummies should get to see their death curses kick in on their way out. :P

On that topic, maybe Xom should have randomized messages and funny stuff, like "Welcome to DIE!"

Edit: Also, as for undead, it could get more complicated than you think. What do you do with necromutated characters, or with fully satiated vampires?

Probably the best solution is to just get rid of death entirely.

Mantis is for bug reports only. Feature requests and other suggestions go to the dev wiki. I cant find an appropriate page for this suggestion, this is the closest I found. I didn't do an in-depth search, so maybe you can find a better page. If you don't find one you should make a new page for message suggestions.

Short things like this can also be brought up and discussed on IRC. There usually are some devs in ##crawl-dev on freenode. They might also know the appropriate place to add this to the wiki.
