shafted into a transporter vault

I'm playing a game in the current trunk version, and moving through level 2 of the snake pit I got shafted into level 3. After some heavy fighting I noticed a red transporter pad, and after killing Aizul and moving around a bit it finally dawned on me that I was inside the transporter vault, one with an altar of Vehumet and some spell books as loot. I didn't encounter a player ghost, though. In any case, is that expected behavior? I can't recall ever having been shafted into a transporter vault, which I find rather bad luck, as these vaults are designed to be entered only voluntarily.

Never happened to me. I'd expect them all to be no_tele_into, and I'd expect that to imply no_shaft_into, if that's even its own thing; but I guess not?

Update: I reported this on Mantis, and learned that it is not a bug, but intended behavior for those transporter vaults that do not contain ghosts and that are not on very early levels.

I guess this surprises me less now, since I yesterday got shafted into an O:2 branch end vault. Still surprising, though.

Yeah, I think that's an oddity, because it's a pretty threatening vault, and one I'd normally skip during gameplay unless I was particularly strong. I'd put it on par with a runed-door vault, which I generally expect are no-teleport into/no shaft-into.

Runed door vaults are not no_tele_into with the exception of ghost vaults. They're fair game for shafts and teleports, and give these features some extra surprise potential. Enjoy!
