Is it intended that one of the four guaranteed shops to spawn in Orc:2 can be a mimic? I've never seen this before 0.24, but I have not been playing long, so perhaps this is rare.

It happens rarely in older versions as well but it's intended.

remove mimics

If it's too much trouble to remove mimics because of those vaults that use them, at the very least prevent portals and shops from being mimics. It's probably the most obnoxious mechanic in crawl.

I disagree. The Abyss rune mimic is the most obnoxious mimic in crawl.
