As is long-known, shatter has hidden and very complicated bonus/malus damage multipliers. Quote wiki:

Damage ×1.5: Ice beasts, simulacra, and ice statues
Damage ×2: Earth elementals, gargoyles, iron elementals, iron golems, war gargoyles, crystal golems, silver statues, orange crystal statues, Roxanne, skeletons, skeletal warriors, curse skulls, Murray, and petrifying monsters
Damage ×4: Petrified monsters
Damage / 3: Flying monsters, water elementals, and all slimes and jellies.
Insubstantial monsters take no damage from Shatter.

The obvious thing to do would be to have this be a vastly easier formula, like x2 for all positive multipliers, /2 for all resistant monsters. Since that doesn't get much traction, I propose to give the boneless Octopodes rShatter. . Thats assuming that bonelessness is what gives slimes/jellies rShatter.

There is precedent in gargoyles for player species inclusion, and the best part is it makes the table a little more complicated!

IMO the obvious thing would be to have the vastly easier formula be 1x for all monsters. It makes very little sense that monsters with skeletons inside take 1x damage while skeletons take more damage. Or that you can walk up and hit an insubstantial monster with a club and do normal damage, while Shatter doesn't touch it at all. It's not as if "the L9 spell that can't kill ghosts and is really ineffective in Slime" is a niche that aching to be filled.

That said, if Shatter is gonna have a bunch of special cases, yeah it should include octopodes. Probably also list rShatter status on xv.

Maybe simplify to 1x for all monsters with an extra 1x for LRD-able monsters, which all EE players have memorised anyway.
