Although the central place for design discussion is ##crawl-dev on freenode, some may find it helpful to discuss requests and suggestions here first.

Minor Hepliaklqana observations/suggestion

I'm playing an FeEE, and taking Hep has prompted a couple of observations.

1. My ancestor looks humanoid, not felid-y (this is Webtiles).
2. My ancestor moves at normal speed, so can't keep up with me if I'm moving at normal speed.

Are these aspects intentional? If not, should the ancestor be changed to reflect the species choosing it?

Obviously point 1 is purely cosmetic, but point 2 would actually affect the game. Would speed-matching ancestors make them more powerful (less so for Nagas, I guess), or be mainly a convenience thing?

I'd like to see non-human races get visually appropriate ancestors in Webtiles, if possible. Not really fussed about the speed - it's the same working with any allies slower than the player character - but thought it worth mentioning.

FR: Make all ancestors look like the last common ancestor of all modern crawl species. That's probably some kind of small mammal look-alike. Oh wait, we have tengu and draconians. And octopodes. Ehm, some kind of jellyfish then?

I have no reason to believe all crawl species have common ancestors. That's very much an earth-centric model.

There is no way humans and elves are related.

Felid ancestors also wear armor and can wield axes.
I suggest restricting felids and octopodes from worshiping Hepliaklqana. Cats and octopuses are solitary and abandon their offspring way before maturing.
Or renaming their ancestors to masters. Felids do have dead owners after all.
