Make picking up items take no time

This would be a significant autopickup convenience and wouldn't impact tactics in basically any way.

You'd probably still want it to count as an action for scoring purposes, otherwise everyone's scores are about to get considerably better.

Well, scores aren't really comparable across versions anyway.

It would probably matter for items over teleport traps.

I'm not clear what exactly is gained by the proposal. Though I don't see much harm either.

No longer need to disable autopickup when monsters are in view. No longer need the "feature" of turning off autopickup when a monster turns invisible and then you have to manually turn it on again because you ran away or the monster died or turned visible again while it was out of LOS.

Invisible monster autopickup interaction is one of the most jarring and atrocious interface issues in the game. This change would make it go away.
