My idea to stop (a kind of) luring

Although the central place for design discussion is ##crawl-dev on freenode, some may find it helpful to discuss requests and suggestions here first.

My idea to stop (a kind of) luring

Give PC +1 slaying for each one (two/three...) consecutive turn he spends attacking an enemy.

Wouldn't this just lead to degenerate tactics such as leading packs of weak monsters around so you can use them to "power up" for larger fights?

I can see this being a problem by introducing a bias towards faster weapons, but +1 for a "dangle a carrot" style of disincentivizing luring over "beating with a stick" (bezotted monsters if certain conditions are met)

e: Though for the record this is only if luring is considered a real problem and it absolutely must be addressed

Could just be per enemy, not carrying over to a different enemy when you attack them.

That was my intention.

Ok, then. Though I'm not sure how this disincentivizes luring exactly. You'd presumably get such a bonus whenever you fight so you could just lure enemies to a safe place and then take advantage of this bonus. It doesn't actually encourage you to fight enemies where you meet them. The only time this would actually be a decision would be if you got surprised by other enemies while in the middle of a fight, but that'd just encourage you to pre-emptively lure more just to avoid ending up in such situations in the first place. Or have I misunderstood you again?

Making enemies easier to kill will reduce kiting to some extent. Is that what you want, though?

A really good Song of Slaying rework but as a standalone feature? Naaaah. Just make it so that you gain +1 slaying per 2 attacks and set a limit so that the bonuses doesn't get crazy.
