Gozag gold drop streamlining

Imagine there was a god that gives piety for all kills, unless the monster is over deep water or lava when it dies. Most would not be okay with this.

This is effectively what Gozag does now. I appreciate the Midas touch flavor of actually generating gold as items to pick up, but it seems to be a holdover from when the distraction mechanic actually depended on kill-gold lying around. Gameplay-wise, it just adds an unnecessary layer of fiddling around with items.

Instead, just make Gozag deposit the amount of gold a monster would have dropped for the kill directly to the player's gold total. It's fine if monsters still drop no corpses.

have you actually tried killing a monster over deep water while worshiping gozag?

I have, but I did not notice the gold message until now. This is excellent, though, since the suggestion is already partially implemented. It also shows that a reasonable expectation of consistent behavior is not met here.

If you kill a monster at range in an inaccessible location, e.g. behind water, you still get the issue of having to fly or use apportation to get the gold. Again, just give the player the gold without making them screw around with items.

Gozag FR: Gold piles (that are no longer "active") teleport instantly to inventory when in LOS.

What about when you use the stairs?

With the change of how the distraction power works, there really is no reason for the gold not to be added directly to your inventory. The "midas touch" flavor still works; Gozag, being a fine businessgod, just makes sure the transaction goes as smoothly and conveniently as possible for the client.

Yeah but its cool to see piles of gold everywhere after a big battle.

different Gozag FR: Whenever a gold pile leaves your LOS, for any reason, it gets autopicked up.

what's the rush? Another version: all gold in sight automatically apports itself into your pocket, at the speed a hasted spriggan, or like a Jiangshi/Sixfurhy. This is pure visual fluff but I'd like it.

gozag knows how to run a business, so you get the ability to apport all gold in LOS directly to your inventory for a 10% cut

Actually I would love it if all gold coins just kind of crawled after you under Gozag, eventually catching up and jumping in your inventory eventually (I just picture blowing up a monster with disint or an OOD and watching little coins close in on you from every which way.

Also "gold attraction" seems like a silly, and highly amusing aspect of the god's power, appropriate as a level 0 passive :)
