Battlemage AI

My ancestor keeps walking directly between me and a monster. Like, if I want to stand outside a chokepoint...

  Code:
       #..
########R.
..FZo...@.
########..
       #..

...and fire spells inside, my ancestor is as likely as not to walk SW and block my line of fire. For more disposable, summoned allies, this sort of behavior is OK, but as a conjurer what I really want from a battlemage ancestor is an ally who will stand next to me and fire off spells. I would probably want the same from hexer. As a god entirely focused on a single ally, perhaps Hepl could uniquely provide more detailed ally commands than are usually available in Crawl...

Why not give the ancestor the same ability to dodge your shots as demonic guardian?

I've always just wanted "Wait" to mean "Wait HERE, dammit"(stay on this tile, don't move).

But if you made "Wait" mean "Wait", then there'd be no command that means "Attack"

The attack command is on your inventory.
