Supreme Bikeshedding: Kikubaoiqkdoid

Kiku's full name(kikubaaqudgha) is extremely hard to spell, and I know that having a bizarre name is part of his flavor, but the g and h at the end really should be removed imo simply because it makes it easier to remember.

Also, just so that way there is a little more to talk about, what are some other examples of names in crawl that are extremely hard to remember how to spell or to remember how to pronounce?

Is that song really where the name came from?

No, but the "gh" does help make the god not sound like a fish or a Heart song :)

I like kiku's hilarious unpronounceable name, but while we're bikeshedding god names I would just like to say that adding an s to Ukayaw was a crime against humanity.

Re: Supreme Bikeshedding: Kikubaoiqkdoid

I remember making a post on dithmengos thread specifically about how his name sounds like "death mangos" and that it would be way cooler for it to be dithmenos instead. Apparently the devs agreed. :D

They changed it from ukayaw to uskayaw because it sounded too much like okawaru(uka, oka, see the similarity?).

Most of the demons. This is annoying when you want to look up their abilities in game (for whatever reason). DCSS names should all be ordinary and American, for maximum convenience. I recommend changing Yxoniquil to Steve, Leocopryca to Ghost Moth, and Tzitzimitl to Shadow Fiend.

As far as I understand, Tzitzimitls *are* American! Perhaps not ordinary, but I am sure there was a time when "tzitzimitl" sounded a lot more ordinary to folks than "Steve".

Jiyva Jabroni always changes its last name, so I never really remember what Jiyva Jaybird's name is in game.

making appropriative and anachronistic jokes out of native American religious figures is just about the most U.S.A. thing you can do, tbh

I wouldn't call them "jokes", their abilities are rather impressive.

Tzitzimitl are actually innovative. They're the first monster that has rSequell, as far as I can tell.

Nah, Sixfirhy, Neqoxec, Ynoxinul and Lorocyproca all already existed.

Every goddamn time I go to type Sixfirhy I think it'll be spelled Sixfirthy

I never had much of a problem with those, but it took me awhile to remember how to spell "tzitzimitl"

I got caught out by the unexpected plural of tzitzimitl, but I applaud the developers for getting it right.
