make Fedhas passively let worshipers walk through water

make Fedhas passively let worshipers walk through water

Fedhas should let you walk straight into shallow and deep water without movement or attack penalty, and let you pick stuff up from the bottom. Flavored as Fedhas moving water aside to let you pass - think of Moses crossing the red sea. This would seem somewhat weird only in the case that the player walks onto a single tile of water with no adjacent tiles of water.

This should not occur for flying players, ice form players, merfolk players, octopode players, certain drac players (I might be forgetting someone) - or, actually, maybe it should!

The main point of this proposal is to eliminate the comparative advantage Octopodes and especially Merfolk have when worshipping Fedhas. Fedhas is a pretty weird-sounding god. I bet many players pass Fedhas up because they're playing a species not super well-suited to a god that can make puddles at the drop of a hat, and that's a pity. This is a case where a leveler playing field is desirable, especially with so few species capable of natural swimming or flight.

This makes getting stuff like ammo from deep water easier. Sure, you can use Sunlight instead, but why mandate that the player press a bunch more keystrokes to get something done? Sunlight has other uses, and its effect on water can be reframed as its main drawback.

This also solves the strangeness of Rain leaving a full circle of deep water around you, but not on you. Just let Rain dump at least as much water on your tile as on the surrounding tiles.

Of course there are other perks to momentarily removing water from your tile, like preventing terrible Nymph attacks and preventing bolt of cold from spawning freezing clouds.

There must be a question regarding non-flying tramplers, but tramplers can be made to treat the player as if they were flying or in ice form when in water.

I think this is a much larger buff than you realize. I'm not saying no; but Rain with walk on water is a really REALLY good escape ability around enemies that can't fly. On the tier of they literally cannot approach you, at all. Not saying that's a bad thing because current Fedhas is a little weak past when Mushrooms stop being that powerful. With rain buffed this way; Greater Mummies (tomb) and most of hell will be easier with Fedhas.
I'm beginning to feel like a Cat God! Felid streaks: {FeVM^Sif Muna, FeWn^Dithmenos, FeAr^Pakellas}, {FeEE^Ashenzari, FeEn^Gozag, FeNe^Sif Muna, FeAE^Vehumet...(ongoing)}

Rain with flight is the same thing, and flight isn't exactly hard to come by. The change is just so that you can get your ammo from deep water without using sunlight (it would probably be better if sunlight instead just didn't evaporate water in the first place, though...)

Maybe Fedhas allows movement through water, but at the same speed of normal wading through water to negate easy cheese?

But take away penalties to EV / attack failure in water.

But see, octopodes and merfolk already have that cheese. That's the issue. Let everybody have the cheese. Don't dole it out selectively. If it was just a couple species that were really bad with Fedhas, that would be a different story - like Trog and unberserkable species. But don't put pressure to play Op/Mf/Gr/Te just to make rain easier to cheese.

Eh, fair enough. That ability clearly hasn't made Fedhas broken for those races. A capstone god powers being able to assist in escape is par for the course.

It's not really like Trog is awful on species that can't berserk. You could probably make a better choice, but it's not as if the character is crippled by being unable to use trog berserk.

Yeah but imagine if you got MR++ from Trog's Hand only when flying, and everyone but a gargoyle or tengu had to find a ring or boots of flying to get MR++ from Trog's Hand, or something ridiculous like that - that's like how Fedhas and rain work with respect to swimming/flying species.
