FR: bots don't leave ghosts

The server they are playing on just gets flooded with their ghosts. E.g. on CBRO, gw's tournament games (so over 1.5 weeks):

That actually appears to be about a third of the games played on CBRO during the tournament.

From discussion elsewhere, I'm sure people might have various reasons, but mine is just that they seem to effectively lead to boring and somewhat repetitive early-game uniques that can't climb stairs. Depending on what particular bots are doing they're also often really easy. If there's a reason for ghosts it's that randomness leads to Fun, no?

I'm all for bots by the way, this isn't a complaint about bots.

On a technical level, the only thing that separates a bot from a human player is rcfile and name, and I don't think it's a good idea to allow players to alter their rcfiles or names such that they don't leave ghosts while other players do.

Wouldn't it be possible to give server admins the authority to block a given player from leaving ghosts? This sounds like something that's best left to the discretion of individual admins, rather than any one global policy. As a side benefit, server admins being able to block players from leaving ghosts could also be used to solve the issue of people deliberately leaving troll ghosts (FIRECRAB anyone?).

Server admins already have a way to handle griefers: they can ban the player.

That said, I agree with tedric, inasmuch as being able to opt out of leaving ghosts isn't the worst idea. This would also be an easy way for offline players to stop having to manually remove their own ghosts if they don't want to deal with their personal ghost spam in-game.

On the ghost subject:
Centaur, felids and spriggan ghosts move faster, naga ghosts move slower, colored draconian ghosts have draining breath... so naga ghosts should spit miasma or something!

Ghosts of other players is the ultimate feature of playing online and should not be removed.
BTW you get points in tournament when your ghost kills player so don't diminish the art of leaving deadly ghosts.
