God proposal: The unsatiable hunger
This post is just the result of some brainstorming in that direction. The main ingredient of the proposal is the piety gain mechanic, the rest is expendable.
God Name: The Unsatiable Hunger (Associated letter H). It is considered an evil god (maybe)
Fluff: The Unsatiable Hunger desired to feast upon Creation and was exiled by the other gods. Today, it is only through the blood and body sacrifices of rare worhippers that the Hunger may feed. Followers can gain, for a short while, aspects and powers of the Hunger by offering parts of their essence.
Piety decays at a rate of 1 per turn (or even higher if needed)
No excommunication at zero piety
Demigods cannot join
Dislikes: Nothing.
Likes: Feeding (see below)
Active Abilities: (usable at any piety, the numbers can be tweaked)
a) "Let the Hunger feed": Sacrifice between 10 and 20 % (random) of your current health and mp and gain the double in piety. Lose some satiation
b) "Let the Hunger feast": Sacrifice between 50 and 60 % (random) of your current health and mp and gain the double in piety. Lose more satiation than in a)
Alternatively, make the sacrifice be a percent of current hp/mp but the piety gained based on the total hp/mp that has been sacrificed.
Passive Abilities
a) "Ravenous": Gain the Demonspawn mutation "Powered by Death" with intensity depending on piety. It should also regenerate magic and at high piety be even more powerful than the mutation
b) "Frenzy": Gain the Demonspawn mutation "Augmentation" with intensity depending on piety. Again, potentially more powerful than the mutation itself at high piety
c) Potentially also add Vehumets mp on kill and Makhleb's hp on kill at high piety (5 stars and up)
d) Potentially add an hp/mp draining bite
e) Potentially give the mutation "carnivorous" while following the god
Punishments: The Hunger occasionally feeds and feast on those that abandoned it. It may also sometimes leave them in a weakened state or limit their regeneration.
The god should be of use to most characters, both fighters, hybrids and "pure" mages but also quite risky to use. It would be particularly powerful with Deep Dwarves but that should not be a problem I hope.
