They're rare, so it would be useful as a panic button in Extended. Maybe shorten the duration by 1/2 to 1/3 in exchange?

No. You can give it MR+ if you like; but rTorm and rHellfire would be...extremely broken.

Really? I don't think having a rare consumable that gave rTorment would be bad really. It would let tormenting monsters be buffed, or new ones added because players have a broader range of tools for dealing with it.

I don't think it'd be broken. How many resistance pots do you usually have in extended? 5 if you're extremely lucky?

I doubt it would get any dev traction though. Something about rTorment rubs those guys the wrong way, it seems .

EDIT: I didn't notice you suggested lowering its duration. I say no to that, it's gotta last through a long fight.

I don't know that this sounds super broken. You just don't find enough of them (and they have plenty of other uses) to really unbalance things. Having this be an option for "oh no I started the level on hellion island" sounds kind of nice.

rTorment sound less compelling than rHellfire; torment already does not kill you and !resistance gives plenty of rN.

Well, nothing in crawl kills you except the last hit. But I think it's fair to say that everything that put you in the position for that to be the last hit are part of what killed you. Eating torments until you have 10 hp and getting finished off by a red devil can be blamed more on the torments than the red devil.

It wouldn't be broken, but if there's anything extended doesn't need, it's greater availability of "panic buttons".

Unfortunately, drinking that potion also gives you rMoving which translates to rLiving in extended.
