Re-work Nemelex as a God of Tokens

This suggestion is intended to address the un-fun inventory management hassle of Nemelex while retaining the very powerful but mostly random effects and the inventory-hogging nature of the god.

The basic idea is that Nemelex gifts token objects, and moves card effects to be direct options on the abilities menu affected by the number of tokens in inventory. Decks need not be removed from the game but are not longer any different for Nemelex worshippers. Nemelex still uses the card effects, card power, and card power level mechanisms, but the interface is streamlined and the theme is not cards anymore.

Tokens Nemelex
  • Racial Restrictions: Demigods
  • Appreciates: Exploration
  • Deprecates: Abandonment (piety erosion over time)
  • Gifts: Nemelex gifts tokens
    • There are three types of tokens: war, destruction and escape. Probability of each type is the same as current deck gifting.
    • The number of tokens in inventory takes the place of Evocations in determining card power. A character will have a separate card power for war, destruction and escape depending on the number of tokens of that type in inventory.
    • Tokens can be plain, ornate or legendary. Each token in inventory that is ornate or legendary has some chance of boosting card power level when an effect of its category is used.
    • Tokens can be evoked to load the War Plan / Destruction Plan / Escape Plan god abilities (i.e. Stack Five). Evoking the token destroys it (so there should be a warning prompt). If an ornate token is evoked, the player chooses five from six, and if a legendary token is evoked the player chooses five from seven.
  • Given Abilities:
    • Most abilities have an "n Tokens of Category in inventory" requirement. Abilities for which this requirement is not met should not appear on the abilities menu.
    • Piety -:
      • No abilities given
    • Piety *:
      • "Fight": Execute a random card effect from the deck of war list. Costs food and piety. Must have a Token of War in inventory.
      • "Smash": Execute a random card effect from the deck of destruction list. Costs food and piety. Must have a Token of Destruction in inventory.
      • "Flee": Execute a random card affect from the deck of escape list. Costs food and piety. Must have a Token of Escape in inventory.
    • Piety **:
      • Augury: There is a chance based on piety and the number and quality of tokens in inventory of a given type that the name of the effect that will occur the next time "Fight," "Smash", or "Flee" is used will be revealed. Shouldn't approach 100% even at max piety unless you choose to totally load yourself down with tokens. This fills the gap of not having decks to ID anymore.
    • Piety ***:
      • "Battle Tactic": Choose one of three card effects from the deck of war list and execute it. Costs food and piety. Must have two(three?) Tokens of War in inventory.
      • "Surgical Strike": Choose one of three card effects from the deck of destruction list and execute it. Costs food and piety. Must have two(three?) Tokens of Destruction in inventory.
      • "Retreat": Choose one of three card effects from the deck of escape list and execute it. Costs food and piety. Must have two(three?) Tokens of Escape in inventory.
    • Piety ****:
      • "Onslaught": Execute four random card effects from the deck of war list. Costs food and piety. Must have three(five?) Tokens of War in inventory. With all of these, there is no longer a risk of drawing from punishment.
      • "Demolition": Execute four random card effects from the deck of destruction list. Costs food and piety. Must have three(five?) Tokens of Destruction in inventory.
      • "Evacuate": Execute four random card effects from the deck of escape list. Costs food and piety. Must have three(five?) Tokens of Escape in inventory.
    • Piety *****:
      • "War Plan": Execute the next card effect of this ability. This ability contains up to five card effects, which are listed in order in the description of this ability on the abilities menu. When first granted, no abilities are stored. Evoke and destroy a Token of War to load the ability with five random card effects from the deck of war list in the order the player chooses.
      • "Destruction Plan": Execute the next card effect of this ability. This ability contains up to five card effects, which are listed in order in the description of this ability on the abilities menu. When first granted, no abilities are stored. Evoke and destroy a Token of Destruction to load the ability with five random card effects from the deck of destruction list in the order the player chooses.
      • "Escape Plan": Execute the next card effect of this ability. This ability contains up to five card effects, which are listed in order in the description of this ability on the abilities menu. When first granted, no abilities are stored. Evoke and destroy a Token of Escape to load the ability with five random card effects from the deck of escape list in the order the player chooses.
    • Piety ******:
      • No new abilities
  • Punishments
    • Same as current Nemelex

I don't know how to balance these, that is why I've left vague the card power and power level functions, fetish quantity requirements, etc. Gift frequency needs to balanced between their destruction using the ***** ability and the quantity requirements of the other abilities. Piety costs will need to be the clock to prevent spamming since there aren't decks of finite size anymore. I'm not happy with some of the ability names.

Despite the lack of quantitative details I hope that idea of tokens can keep most of the flavor of Nemelex without the hassle of deck management in inventory, since tokens just sit there.

PS. The proper anthropological term for tokens is "fetish" but I decided I didn't want a "God of Fetishes" for obvious reasons.

Re: Re-work Nemelex as a God of Tokens

Is there any reason you want to preserve Nemelex's hallmark of cramming your inventory?

No need for fancy names, by the way.

Because no other god does that?

Or make a separate inventory for decks.
