Display success chance for needles

For needles other than poison and curare: You have a flat 2% chance of affecting monsters with HD14 or less. In all other cases, or if this 2% chance fails, you will only affect a monster if 2+ 1d(3 + Throwing Skill + Blowgun To-Hit) is greater than the monster's HD.

HD is not visible anywhere in the game, can we display the chance when targeting monsters with blowgun?
Will such patch be accepted provided it can help player not to waste extremely rare needles of paralysis?

This seems wrong. A needle of slow has a 2% chance to work on a bat?

Bats are HD1 so I think according to learndb it will always work? It's not that clear.

You still need the needle to hit the bat. But yes, if the needle hits it, the bat is guaranteed to be affected by slow/paralysis/etc.

FR: remove the free 2% bonus against monsters with HD<=14. Display the success chance when targeting, just as with casting hexes.

Great idea. Because the needle still has to hit before the roll that concerns the displayed percentage, we should be deliberate with the wording.

"XX% upon hit" should be clear enough, and still very concise, I think.

It doesn't matter much to me, but it would be consistent with the way hexes work. Why should a KoBe needle stabber be penalized for using a different method to apply his hex?
