While you're at it this should apply to gargoyles and statue form too, right?

Mummies are OP anyways. Good to see some monsters make them less so.

Yea, I know, right? Anyway, not that it was that big a deal. Character was fine through Spider, and died because I *still* underestimate just how much damage a Titanic Slime Creature deals (I really need to play slower around slime creatures :p) - this was is profoundly stupid of me, considering I had two runes already... Anyway, back on topic...

If nothing else, the fluff should be changed to note that the Tarantella's teeth drip with, not poison, but made of hex magics. But that would sound stupid, I guess... Wait a minute...

Anyway, why hasn't this been changed, since it seems like it's been this way for a while?

Edit:

Yea, pretty much anything with poison immunity (as opposed to resistance) I imagine should be immune, but whatever...

Mummies OP?

well I was around when spider's nest was designed so let me fill you in. the design of the branch was always "things that poison you, sometimes in slightly different ways." but the dev team ran into a problem here, which is that poison resistance allows you to resist poison. but they really liked the idea of spider, so they decided to make it so that poison resistance doesn't make you resistant to poison anymore. it was quite an ingenious solution, really

however, let's not give the dcss devs 100% of the credit. poison immunity not making you immune to poison was linley henzell's idea.

Their attacks just look really weird OP, like how the heck can they move like that? They're confusing.

I don't think this story is complete because it doesn't mention Moths of Suppression.

The walking pile of bandages and the dancing spider both make no sense, which is why the former is confused by the latter.

tarantella
A small but greatly-feared spider whose attacks cause victims to break into a frenzied dance.

/poison
Pattern not found (press RETURN)

(If anyone has better wording suggestions, I'd certainly appreciate them; among other things, the current description is kind of awkwardly long...)

come on, it's even described as a "bite", what possible interpretation is there other than "it must be some kind of venom"?

I think tarantellas should have a chance of eating one of your infinite !curing from your inventory, or instakill you if you are a mummy. that's pretty much all they do, anyways.

  Code:
The tarantella takes apart your nightmares and leaves them by the door!
You are confused.

I would be confused if a spider punched me. but really, it would be cool if tarantellas got reflavored as "dream weavers" or something.

What if, when a tarantella bit you, you gained Spider Form?

Well the obvious solution to tarantella confuse confusion is to give them a confuse ability instead of an attack flavour. Confuse spell would have the advantage of maybe actually hitting people sometimes, too, unlike debilitating attack flavours.

I kind of think there's no way to make a spider that confuses you with a bite not be poisonous and also make sense. It would be less confusing(ha) that it isn't poison and also more goofy if they did something like cast mass confusion on you and also all enemies in LoS with a message like "The Tarantella dances a bewildering jig!"
