Chei not giving piety on ally kills

Why? i just splatted a cool VSSu of chei who managed to find and cast monstrous menagerie before lair but i noticed that chei doesnt grant piety on ally kills. could that be changed?

Can't find the commit, but in trunk all gods take piety from allies' kills, so what you're asking for (without adding any reason btw) will be present in the game - unless it will be changed again in the future.

Should Chei slow allies? Should their HD be raised to compensate?

applying slow status would be too harsh, because that would halve their attack speed. slow + might would be more reasonable (i think a monster that is both slowed and mightied does same damage per turn as monster that is neither). i think status quo is best, even though it goes against flavour (summoning fast monsters).

Piety gain is proportional to speed difference, right? So can you only gain piety if your ally is slower than your enemy?

I don't think might would help with ranged attacks from lightning spires or demons, which was why I suggested boosted HD- it's a lot like stat gain.

You're probably right that it's too complicated and mostly adds flavor.

Being able to use slouch behind a wall of cannon fodder that is immune because they are as slow as you would be quite powerful, though.
