interface trolling: resist poison

The in-game chracter interface should reflect the fact that there is more than one level of poison resistance like with the other resistances.

"I have a + in resist poison, so Im immune right? hey there is a guardian serpent, YOLO!"

YOLO indeed. Rest in pepperoni.

Edit: replace 'immune' with 'very resistant'

None of the resistances make you immune to the element in question, unless you count stuff like clarity and stasis.

it still should show that there are multiple levels of resistance and not only 1

There is only one level of (positive) poison resistance because there is no way to get a second level of poison resistance. This does not mean you are immune, does not imply you are immune, and you should not be able to be immune.

Some monsters are immune, but their descriptions will say that. Players aren't monsters. You also can't be immune to fire, cold, etc, but some monsters are.

I think Statue Form and Vitalization make you immune to poison for their duration, though both already have indicators in main screen.

I'm a bit in a predicament here because the wiki says

In 0.10, poison resistance was changed to have multiple levels, although this is not reflected on the player's resistances overview.


So I was like: Well no wonder I keep dying to venomous enemies when I only have one instance of poison resistance when there are actually more then the game is willing to tell me.

I'm confused now.

Sounds like another good reason not to rely on the wiki. Bookmark https://loom.shalott.org/learndb.html instead, and ask in the Tavern when the info there is incomplete/confusing.

Technically there are two levels of poison resistance - "poison resistance" which you get from an item with rPois, or by being a naga, green draconian or ice form, and poison immunity which you get from being a mummy, ghoul, gargoyle, lich form and AFAIK statue form. Not sure how vampires fit into this after the latest changes.

Whether, and how, this should be represented in the character display is IMO a relevant question.

It is actually possible to get poison immunity, through petrification, statue form, wisp form, shadow form, necromutation, wielding the staff of Olgreb, or being a gargoyle, ghoul or mummy. No amount of stacking rPois+ sources will get you more than rPois+, however.

Possibly the + on the % screen could be changed to a different colour or symbol if you're fully immune...?

I would like a change in colour, a ligther green or perhaps blue.

Can the player ever be immune to negative energy but not torment? If not then this also included.

yes they can, rN+++ gives complete immunity to draining/pain/vamp brand/agony but not torment immunity

Poison resistance has 6 types/levels for monsters and 4 for players. IMO this is too many.

Congrats :) 99% of threads failing means there's occassionally that 1%! Also, I'm somewhat upset with myself that I forgot statue form is complete immunity, it's probably my favorite spell in the game after all...
