Make Monk's faith bonus work with the hipster gods

Make Monk's faith bonus work with the hipster gods

"Piety is too mainstream for my religion".

Gozag: 20% rabate for the first use of Potion Petition
Ru: First sac is offered sooner (NOTE: From playing trunk build I BELIEVE this is already in place, it seems you get your first sac almost immeadetly after joining as a monk whereas other backgrounds take longer).
Xom: Is initially amused with you i. e. his first miracle is weighted towards a positive outcome. But since we're talking Xom here, you might get screwed over anyway.

Reasons

-Keep monk background up-to date with newer gods
-Make sure the unique trait is not wasted
-More choices for the player = more fun to play

Vote on numbers, not on concepts. Concepts can be changed easily; numbers are eternal like the mountain stone they are carved in.

Ru does indeed already have the monk bonus in place.

I feel kind of neutral on the proposed changes.
On IRC my nick is reaverb. I play online under the name reaver, though.

He didn't outright reject the changes! Great success!

So, since the monk + Ru mechanic is already implemented all I'm really asking here is that we apply the same logic to every god i. e. Gozag and Xom...
maybe my proposals aren't up to snuff yet but I'm sure I'll come up with something after a good night's sleep.

I think a better change to Gozag would be to lower the admission price, effectively starting your worship with more money and more powers, much like how Mo affects every other God.

Oh, something I forgot:

Gozag already waives the admission fee for monks.

So I guess this would be just for Xom.

Considering Chaos Knights already exist, I'm not sure if it makes sense to give monks a bonus to Xom. Either monks of Xom end up being worse then Chaos Knights (so why bother?) or they end up being better (doesn't seem like a good idea).

Make monks who join Xom have their piety set to a random value.

Re: Make Monk's faith bonus work with the hipster gods

I tried to suggest this yesterday, but apparently the forum software didn't like it, so I'll try again:

When a monk joins Xom, they should immediately get a blast from the Xom Mutato-Ray. That's their 'bonus'.
Then it kind of follows the theme that Monks get the rewards from joining a god earlier than other backgrounds. Since it's Xom, it's more 'reward' than reward, but his mutations are usually good overall.

That's sort of what I was going for with my suggestion. Xom piety starts at 100 (unless the wiki is wrong again) and randomly wanders over time and as Xom acts. If a monk is considered to have progressed further along the religion when he or she joins up, then it makes sense that their "advanced progress" with Xom would correlate to having had their piety shifted a few times. In other words, their piety is random.
