Giant spiked club

Giant spiked club

I find it ironic that the biggest stupidest weapon in the game also takes the most skill to master (that is, to get to minimum delay).

Has there been any discussion about altering some parameters so that GSC isn't a more "skillful" weapon than a sabre or whip? The current system plays well but I certainly isn't what I might have expected.

How a weapon is stupid? You don't need to be bright to club people in the face, but if you want to swing as fast as you swing a sabre, you certainly need some training.
<+Grunt> You dereference an invalid pointer! Ouch! That really hurt! The game dies...

GSC is just the biggest weapon. But if weapons had brain, GSC would probably have a small one.

M meant to say that I find it ironic that GCS, a less-skillful seeming weapon, takes much more XP to get to minimum delay than does a sabre, a more-skillful seeming weapon.

Re: Giant spiked club

Big weapon hitting a (usually) smaller target = more skill.

Maybe the GSC could get a small bump when wielded against large foes?

NO! That's double-dipping again, the bane of Crawl balance. It's already the case that large creatures get an EV penalty, poor dodging aptitude and reduced benefit from dodging (apart from the poor apt and EV penalty). This would make your poor player ogre even more obviously pathetic when meeting the monster ogre.

Well, to be honest I wasn't thinking about the whole monster aspect. And I guess giving the GSC a bonus only when PC-wielded would go against Crawl philosophy.

Re: Giant spiked club

No it wouldn't, but introducing silly special cases for no reason would.
