Mummy ally and death curses

My HEMo was clearing an ossuary with the help of a wand of enslavement:

  Code:
A decayed bog body comes into view.
Your mummy hits the decayed bog body.
The decayed bog body hits your mummy!
The decayed bog body touches your mummy.
The decayed bog body freezes your mummy.
Your mummy resists.
Your mummy is destroyed!
You feel nervous for a moment...
Your +0 cloak glows black for a moment.

So when an enslaved mummy died, I got the death curse? Surely this is unfair.

Also I got this strange-looking line in the dump; probably due to a decayed bog body I enslaved:
  Code:
11017 | Ossuary  | Your ally decayed died

Re: Mummy ally and death curses

enslaving mummies is the one instance of crawl actually trying in some way to prevent you circumventing death curses (of course you can still easily do so with summons, or by enslaving a different monster to kill the mummy, etc.)

(of course, if death curses are going to be a thing that exists in crawl, they should not be possible to circumvent in any fashion, so the way the game handles you enslaving a mummy is actually "correct" in that sense)

Re: Mummy ally and death curses

Funny though that I never noticed that before.

Personally I think that death curses should affect the one who killed the mummy. If the death curse mechanic is to be changed to prevent/discourage the use of allies, (Tomb) mummies could gain an "aura of fear" that would prevent allies from attacking them, or something like that.

Isn't this just because you get credited as the killer when something you've enslaved dies?
