A goblin, 12 orcs and an ogre come into view

One of those 12 orcs happens to be Nergalle.

My config file would greatly appreciate it if the "come into view" message would always announce uniques when they first come into view. In this case we don't want to lump them in with other enemy types.

I would prefer something like:

A goblin, 11 orcs, an ogre, and Nergalle come into view.

Let me know if I should submit a feature request/bug report. Thanks!

I think you can add something like this in your init.txt

The problem is that expression doesn't match "A goblin, 12 orcs and an ogre come into view".
Really though that encounter is odd enough that you should look at the orcs or at the monster list and notice Nergalle, the force-mores are best for just avoiding double-moves during exploration.

This sounds like something that would be pushed if a patch existed for it.
