Amulet of Repel Missile / Ring of Evoke Deflect Missiles

There should be a more reliable source of evoked protection from missile attacks in the game, other than a rod that is fabled to exist and a legendary amulet that includes inaccuracy as an intrinsic. By including a source of evocable repel/deflect missile, it would allow berserkers access to this useful spell, as well as other species with abysmal aptitudes, such as trolls and minotaurs.

There are a couple of ways that this could be implemented. First, it could be an amulet with a permanent repel/deflect missiles intrinsic. Inaccuracy would be removed as an ego, and the Amulet of the Air would receive the new ego. It would still be vastly superior, because it would still include the extra EV, rElec, and flight. Whether or not it would have Repel Missiles or Deflect Missiles as its intrinsic is up for debate, though it feels to me that if you are using your amulet slot on this, why not give it the more powerful spell.

Conversely, it could be a ring of evocable repel/deflect missile. Deflect missiles seems to make sense to me, as it is a level 6 spell, just like Invisibility. The evocations level necessary to make it evocable could be copied from the ring of invisibility. On the other hand, evoke blink is an ego that is available on artifact armours, and it could make sense to implement Repel Missiles as an additional evocable ability that is available in a similar fashion.

Let me know what you think of my idea, and any balance issues that may need to be resolved (i.e. having the spell more easily available while wearing heavier armour.)

Why? What is your rationale for this change? How would it improve the game?

If a minotaur wants to dodge, its aptitudes are not holding it back.

I wouldn't mind seeing more player spells on randarts, but it's probably better to have more effects instead of re-using spells. Easier said than done, because good effects are hard to come up with.

I think that just having inaccuracy make all your attacks as well as your opponents' attacks (either missile or missile + melee) less likely to hit would be an improvement, but not because of berserkers being underpowered (since they aren't), but rather because the game could use more good amulets and inaccuracy serves almost no purpose now.

Repel Missiles is already way way too easy and reliable to get and should honestly probably just be removed (except actually it should stay because it makes item destruction slightly more bearable).

Inacc is not even a consideration on Amulet of the Air. Passive rmsl is so good that unless you already have the spell you should never hesitate to wear it (and you should probably consider forgetting the spell). The rod is stupidly OP, or at least it was; maybe the new mechanic is more power reliant?

it would allow berserkers access to this useful spell

Now you're giving arguments against your own proposal. Nice.

as well as other species with abysmal aptitudes, such as trolls and minotaurs

Repel Missiles is a level 2 spell. 2. If you are not worshipping Trog, casting this spell is easy. Full stop. Especially now that you can just strip naked and wield wizardry every time you need to cast it.

Yeah, Repel Missiles is really pretty easy to get a handle on, even for a troll (if I find it, I'll usually learn it since I mostly play trolls with minor spellcasting abilities).

Wait, since when is rMissile on a rod?

I kindof agree in that repel missiles would make more sense as an item than a low level spell, recasting it is annoying and the new implementation has its own problems.
