Vampire specials letter assignation

Okay... if this is not the place point me to the appropriate desk. :geek:

Vampire special abilities are batform, release batform, and bottle blood.

Batform is AFAIK always f, which I guess is the first letter not reserved for granted powers, or something. Maybe if before XP level 3 you find an evokable ring or something it'll get shifted down, but I'm not sure if such a thing has happened to me.

Both release batform and bottle blood can get either g or h.

I guess this is because a menu letters are assigned as they become available. If you activate batform at least once before level 6, release batform gets assigned to g. If you don't, bottle blood gets g and release batform will get h as soon as you enter batform for the first time.

Why not make this so that release batform is assigned at the same time as batform is acquired? Is it considered unnecesary, or does it conflict with something else such as other transformation releases, or because it would be special-casing?

They can be re-assigned with =a if you don't like how they end up.

I wonder how many people use initial letters. I, personally reassign the most useful abilities so they are as close to 'a' as possible.

I put bottle blood on z. I hardly ever use bat form, and I don't want to use it accidentally. It's great when I do need it, though.

In my VpVM game (5-runer) I never used bat form once. I found a ring of invis quite early and had evoke invis at 'h'. Bottle blood was at 'i'.

Did you press 'a'->'i'? That's a pain. Remap it closer to a. Nothing easier than pressing =,a,i,a to remap it from 'i' to 'a' or any other.

Re: Vampire specials letter assignation

Well, I didn't find it painful at all. In fact, I don't usually do any kind of remapping of keys for abilities or spells. I also never use tab (but I do use 'o' all the time).

I usually map flight to 'f', invisibility to 'i', blink to 'B'. I don't want to keep them close to 'a' because I am trying to avoid finger memory for important commands.
