Display reduced EV when constricted

Just a small request. I only recently learned, while reading the learndb, that constriction reduces the EV of the target. Perhaps this could be made more obvious by displaying the reduced EV value when the player is constricted? I believe this is already the case when the player is caught in a web.

Re: Display reduced EV when constricted

iirc I looked into this once and there were horrible technical issues

it's a good idea though, if someone can get it working.

(likewise for when ev is reduced when you're eating, etc)

ahaha seriously?

What about while putting on armour, does that lower EV? Does it lower it by more than the armour would when it's on?

Also using stairs, and a lot of other things.

yes, though no relation to the armour's ev penalty (it's a flat 5 points)

Are all these hidden penalties necessary? How often do they come up?

Re: Display reduced EV when constricted

Reducing EV during ordinarily uninterruptible actions seems like a very bad idea from a discoverability perspective given that the only opportunities to display the reduced EV to the player would be during a --more-- message and upon death (which is actually just a special case of --more--).

Re: Display reduced EV when constricted

The other thing about it is you're already doing an uninterruptible thing which is a pretty big deal if someone is attacking you. I don't know that reducing EV is needed to make that bad plan even worse.

Re: Display reduced EV when constricted

I can't think of anything uninterruptible besides taking the stairs that is frequently done during combat. I'd say remove the penalty, if that's too big a buff to stairdancing then increase the time to take the stairs.
