Since I posted this, it already got handled though. It might have been leafsnail that did it I don't remember.
Chaos Spawn, Orange Demons and Quasits can now open doors in trunk (thus all demons can).

and these exceptions feel sort of arbitrary and unintuitive (and

And what about really large brutes? Big monsters like elephants etc. should be able to smash doors down when they're aggro (i.e. not when simply wandering around). I love that there are now deep troll earth mages that can cast dig, I find it hilarious when it happens, and generally exciting when monsters get a little more proactive.

I think by the time you can reliably destroy doors without caring about the noise, you can probably one-shot the imp from a distance, too? If you can't, tough luck, kinda like when a big monster blocks the retreat for a squishy caster.
And vault wardens are a pain mostly because of V:5, I wonder how/if they would work elsewhere.

(t)ell; (r)etreat. Indicate the door as the direction. Allies will open the door then run in that direction until you give a different command.
