Are we getting shop price bargaining (please say no)

If you read some of the changes on crawl.develz.org/trunk/ there are two entries a few lines down mentioning something I've not seen in Crawl before:

  Code:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2dcda89 | Pekka Lampila | 2013-04-12 10:43:40 -0500

Show lowered prices on shopping list with bargain
Also don't give invalid "You cannot afford" prompt if the item is only
affordable thanks to bargain status.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6ea6a6e | Pekka Lampila | 2013-04-12 10:43:35 -0500

Ignore bargaining when adding to the shopping list

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am very curious what this is actually talking about, as last i checked, bargaining isn't an option in the game. In fact, i'm pretty sure it goes against parts of the game's philosophy. I may be reading too deeply into this though, or it may be referring to something else.

Bargaining might maybe be alright as a mutation. Call it "empathic speech" and lower (or as a bad mutation, call it "tourettes" and raise) shop prices by 5/15/25%, but i can't see it being a skill in the game that you would train.

The one and only time I've ever drawn a bargain card I was about a mile deep in Lair.....

Bargain card has been around long ago, this is just fixing some interface quirkiness with it.

It looks like stacking bargain cards can be useful before Orc4.

Bargain is from the Deck of Oddities so you can't aim for them. Unless you noticed one while peeking!

To be fair, the effect does last quite a while longer than I expected it to. But it still would have been touch and go for me to haul up 6 or so floors of Lair and another 4-5 floors of dungeon to get to a shop that didn't have anything I wanted that badly anyway, so it was just a waste for me.

The duration is not reliable.

  Code:
random2(power) + random2(power) + 2

With power 700 it can last from 2 to 1400 turns.

Awesome. Even more reason not to bother with decks unless I wanna use Nemelex.

Prozac, imo decks can be useful if you have enough identify scrolls to make sense of them. If you find a deck of escape for example, the Tomb card can save you from some really horrible situations.

I wasn't really implying they were useless. But blind drawing them seems like a bad idea, and I don't usually have so many ID scrolls sitting around that I want to use them on decks. On the occasions that I do, sure. Or if I'm using Nem and there's a tangible benefit to blind drawing periodically.

Ok, I really don't use Nemelex. Thanks for the answer though.
