No Ziggurats in the game?

I am playing version 0.12-a0-3164-g4bdaa9d and I have not found any Ziggurats in my game, neither in dungeon nor in Pan. Am I just unlucky or is it a bug? Are ziggurats possible in dungeon and Pan only? Or should I try abyss/hell?

Zigs are not guaranteed in dungeon. Keep running pan floors and you'll find one eventually. Zigs do not generate in hells and I'm 99% sure they don't generate in Abyss.

Yup, in one of my earliest zig clearings, I think I didn't find any until after all of the pan runes...

I have all the Pan runes for a long time It's 32 Pan levels now and still no zigs. I wish there was a setting to guarantee at least 1 zig for every N pan floors... It becomes boring

I have completely explored all 39 Pan levels and still have not found a single Zig. I can be stubborn sometimes but it's getting ridiculous...

Ok, that does sound unlucky!
I don't understand the Ash comment - my guess is that Galefury is implying there are likely to be unconnected zig portals. I'd be interested to know.
I don't really know the layout of Pan well enough to be sure, but several version ago (before the removal of secret doors) I has a DS with the antenna mutation, learned dig, and dug out almost half of Pan.

As an aside: I used to like finding early (well guarded) zig portals in the dungeon before I had tried one. I knew I wasn't able to enter and just wondered what they were... That was actually a good lesson for me as a player too: Just because you see a portal or monster, that doesn't mean you can take it on yet!

Yes, one of those 39 levels was a Pan level which was very small (like 7x7) and didn't have any portals (even to next Pan floor). I did not want to spend wand of digging so I activated teleportation ring to solve the issue. I took a break and got Tomb rune. Now I am going back to Pan, I don't want to do Hell without preservation cloak. Maybe I will be more lucky this time.
