rc files for ultra cautious play please

If anybody has rc files for a paranoid playing style, that you could recommend copy-pasting, please let me know.

Also I want to know what to add where that my char stop when Necromutation (this truly miracle spell!) has ended.

On a related topic, how do I change the default behavior of Tab button so that a character does not move if no enemy is next to it?

No, the patch has not been accepted yet. I am using the same RC with my local build where it works as expected.

https://crawl.develz.org/mantis/view.php?id=9664 is not accepted yet either

https://crawl.develz.org/mantis/view.php?id=9531 is already in trunk

Hopefully https://crawl.develz.org/mantis/view.php?id=9340 will make it to 0.17

Also there are some patches which will never be accepted.
Maybe that explains why I prefer to play offline when I have choice.

My next goal is to create a patch for changing monster HP (difficulty level) and see how much it changes crawl.

I think while that's one approach for difficulty level, probably a better one would be to allow you to manipulate XP given by enemies. Imagine a global -50% to xp, that'd certainly make for a tougher (and more strategic) game.

That would result in greater number of unavoidable deaths due to lower HP for characters and I am trying to avoid it. It should be harder to kill monsters, not easier to die.

Edit. Maybe I will create 2 new options, one for character HP and another for monsters.

Hmm, what about normal XL growth, but 50% skill growth. Yeah, you'd still have lower HP due to lower fighting skill, but it wouldn't be as bad as lower fighting skill and lower XL.

Yeah, some races already have XP malus/low aptitudes, but there's no way to play a naga with extra low apts, or something like that.

It just seems like higher monster HP doesn't really make them that much more dangerous after the very early game, since escaping isn't any harder(except of course the method of escape where you kill the monster). In the very early game a +50% hp jackal pack or adder is certainly dangerous, although I'm not sure it's exactly fair.

Yes, giving a penalty to skills is an option too, though HP penalty is easier to implement (I think).
Escaping would be harder because you would need to escape more often. It's like playing a Fe who is afraid of 50+% monsters on a floor sometimes.

You put it anywhere in your .rc file. For webtiles theres an edit .rc link next to the play links.

This thread finally made me take a look at .rc files, I've been playing with whatever the default is until now.

You can do a lot of cool stuff... using the HDA setup just now and loving it. It includes the transformation end alert and i'm rather enjoying it on my transmutation run, also the auto-explore script to automate my eating.

if you play offline then edit init.txt in \Crawl\settings
also you can read options_guide.txt if you are interested in changing stuff in your init file

Not a bad idea and I encourage you to try it, but I think it'd probably affect balance considerably. Best thing to do would be to compensate by playing very high damaging builds, either stabbers, or chei transmuters. With Chei + blade hands, you'd hardly notice the increased monster hp ;)

Difficulty levels are supposed to change balance (poor casters with their limited MP :)).
Probably En would be the easiest, MR/HD is not changed by difficulty levels.

You can log into any online server, there is usually "morgues" link in every one.

For offline play the file is called init.txt, it is located in settings folder.

Sadly it gave nothing useful - its just add additional messages, but I want full stop when first and second case happens.
