Does UC affect headbutt?

MiBe here. Just wondering if I should bother training my UC for a headbutt. I'm XL 16, cleared D to 18, finished Lair and OM, plugging through shoals now, Swamp is next.

UC has no effect on it at all. Your strength and dexterity affect how likely you are to get a headbutt (with dexterity being the bigger factor), though.

You get a headbutt when you evade, so dex helps most, but its a small bonus so you should put your points in str for armor (or int if you plan on casting)

Oh, that would have been good to know for my last Minotaur, when I put like 20 levels into UC, thinking it might help. However, I only did that once I had other skills pretty far along.

I think it is spoilery to know you DO NOT need unarmed skill to enhance the natural "unarmed/non-weapon" attacks.

The skill is misleadingly named.

The simplest resolution to this would be to rename it to what it actually applies to: fists/teeth+claws/tentacles+beak depending on the species.

Probably UC's offhand punch should go away and then the skill description doesn't have to mention it and confuse people.

Note that getting a retaliation headbutt is minotaur-specific; horns in general will give you headbutts when you attack and I think str/dex will affect the chance in both cases.

Wait...so are those the 'auxiliary attacks' listed on the UC page?

UC confuses me : /

Unarmed combat used to factor into auxiliary attacks from talons, horns, etc. This was changed because it made auxiliary attacks completely worthless for anybody not using unarmed combat as their main skill. Pick swords, and your horns or talons were useless.

Now auxiliary attacks from your other limbs just do a relevant amount of damage that doesn't scale with any particular skill. They'll be useful regardless which type of melee combat you're training.

Shouldn't them be tied directly to Fighting, instead?

Fighting with no weapons

...with the speed of light, hitting a few times in a single attack, dealing the highest possible raw unenchanced damage.
PS:I love Minotaur-monks ^^
