MP gain when gaining XL for spellcasters

I was considering the options for my next Conjurer / Ice Elementalist build after the last one had a YASD, and I noticed Reaver can start with the same spell book as a Conjurer, with the difference being higher starting HP and lower MP for a Reaver, among other things.
How do these starting stats affect the MP gain when gaining level? Does it make a significant difference by the time you hit 10+ levels?

It only affects starting MP.

The other downside on the reaver is lower intelligence to start.

If I were into casters I would definitely try reavers - it's much easier to grind up spellcasting than to grind up fighting.

Casters get their mp pool from primarily two sources: one is a racial pool, and the other is based on your Spellcasting skill. Both of them scale with your level. A reaver starts with lower Spellcasting skill than a conjuror, so the reaver will have less mp, but once the reaver catches up on Spellcasting skill the two will have the same amount again.

YASD again, so lets compare the stats.
hxy1 started off as Conjurer, while hxy2 started off as Reaver. Both had Book of Conjurations (ice), and played as caster.

At level 12, hxy1:
  Code:
 16644 | D:11    | Reached XP level 12. HP: 53/53 MP: 28/32
and hxy2:
  Code:
 18810 | Lair:3  | Reached XP level 12. HP: 28/58 MP: 28/33

The starting HP for DE Conjourer was 8, and Reaver was 11, difference of 3. By level 12 the difference was 5 (I did not have any HP boosting gear or mutation). So by level 20+ there will be a 10+ point difference?
The MP difference is more understandable. At that point, hxy1 had maybe 12 levels in Spellcasting, while hxy2 had 13. I tried to turn off the other skills to keep Spellcasting up on par with Conjuration, is that a good idea?

The spellcasting skill equivalent for hit points is fighting skill, which reavers start with. Your conjuror was probably a little behind in fighting skill.

Never turn off spellcasting or fighting skill. If they keep pace with your main spell and weapon schools, great, but they train very slowly so don't necessarily expect them to do so.

By "never", you mean "unless you're victory dancing a specific skill other than those two".
