SpEn + Dagger of distortion = ?

I have a spriggan enchanter that's playing a relatively normal game (I'll attach the dump at the end). I found a dagger of electocution early on, so I've been using it for both stabs and melee. I then found a dagger of distortion with a high enchantment, courtesy of psyche. I haven't worn it yet, but it seems like it would be useful for anything I was having trouble stabbing. After reading the wiki, however, I'm quite hesitant, because I'm afraid of having to fight nasty uniques in the abyss, and I'm scared of unequipping those damned things. On the other side, I'm a spriggan, so I can escape from pretty much any unique, and just avoid TRJ (not Lom Lobon, but I'm not planning on a 15 runer. So, what do you think I should do?

I'm not sure why you'd be worried about the backlash for unwielding the dagger. Why would you want to unwield it? You don't have anything worth swapping to, and you're not going to find a higher-damaging brand than distortion. It's also on a good stabbing tool, so you don't have to switch for that. One thing to watch out for is accidentally blinking away ranged attackers, but you should probably Confuse them or something rather than fighting them fairly anyway.

Yeah, Distortion is a kick-ass brand. As an enchanter, you don't even have as much of a use for staves, which is the other thing you might switch to.

This won't affect plans for a 15 runer. If you get that far, you'll be strong enough that a potential trip to the Abyss is an inconvenience at most. Or you'll be sent to the abyss by something else anyway, and then you can unwield it once you're there.

I'm worried about being forced into a fight with, say, TRJ, in the abyss. I can avoid him, but I might get stuck, and the abyss is anti-blink.

Also, I'm worried about getting one-shotted by unwielding the dagger. Spriggans have very low HP, so it might be killed by the backlash.

Well, I've decided to wear it, for better or worse.

Well, you're not going for 15 runes, so why bother fighting TRJ and other uniques in the Abyss?

Attempting to reach The Royal Jelly in the first place is much, much more dangerous than unwielding a weapon of distortion. By that point unwielding will be a nuisance and not much more.

Also, as you're not worshipping any god yet, you could always follow Lugonu, which would make any trip to the Abyss even easier for your rapid little spriggan. Try and find or acquire a quickblade, get it distortion-blessed, and banish everything.

Also: you'll want to train short blades to get to minimum delay, well, now.

Training short blades to minimum delay now would be a mistake. First, you really want Dodging and Stealth at 10, a bit more Stabbing (12-15) and Invisibility castable (10-15% failure).

Hm, I thought you'd want min delay to get as many distortion attacks in as possible. But that presupposes using your SpEn to melee stuff, which is probably not a great survival plan... :/

SpEn's mainly rely on stabbing for damage. That or they disable enemies by confusing them. Min delay becomes a "nice to have" rather than a necessity.

You're XL12. Why are you concerned about a fight you won't do until you' re ~XL27. It's not like you have to wear the dagger all game.
