Does amulet of stasis prevent banishment?

My MR is just "quite resistant" so I'm wondering if I should try Elf:5 with the amulet on or should I come back later...

No, it doesn't. Come back later if you don't rely on summons or have Trog's Hand or something.

You want at least "incredible", preferably "uncanny", if you're going to be in there mixing it up. Nothing will prevent Banishment once it resolves so you want to stop it from resolving via MR and careful play. Get at least rF+ and have a way to deal with a master archer, a master swordsman, and a creature that can summon demons that have the ability to Torment you or cast Dispel Undead.

Then again, you can just kill two birds like I did in one run. Gear your character for Abyss and Elf 5 before going to Elf 5. If you do get banished it's not that big a deal, your goal just temporarily changes to "get the abyssal rune." (Just don't let it happen a second time.)

These levels are very hard to get, and not really necessary. "Extremely" is enough for most things, "Extraordinarily" for almost everything.

It's just insurance as a higher than average MR would be. Get off my nuts, the advice was for a player that's new and should go overboard.
