Questions about Pan

I was on the Cerebov level in Pan. Tried to fight him but had to run away. I got into a Zig on the same level, but when I came out of it I was on a different Pan level!
Is Cerebov's level lost now?

So stupid ...
I thought hey, let's pop in the Zig, clear a few floors, get some nice items and then come back finish Cerebov.
It's strange that Zigs in Pandemonim don't behave like the ones in the Dungeon.

Entering any portal inside Pandemonium causes the game to forget where you were in Pan. You used to get dumped back in the dungeon after leaving the portal. It looks like it now puts you in a random level in Pan.
