Complete list of species/class abbreviations

After having seen a few too many people saying things like "OcWi" and "MeTr," I decided that it might be useful to have a central location listing every species/class abbreviation. Most of them are straightforward, but there are a few that people consistently use incorrectly. Incorrect abbreviations aren't a huge deal, but when people use the correct ones adds clarity and frustrates me less.

Commonly incorrect races:
  Code:
Merfolk - Mf
Demonspawn - Ds
Demigod - Dg
Vampire - Vp
Octopode - Op

Commonly incorrect classes:
  Code:
Wanderer - Wn
Transmuter - Tm
Warper - Wr
Wizard - Wz
Conjurer - Cj

Races:
  Code:
Human - Hu
High elf - HE
Deep elf - DE
Sludge elf - SE
Deep Dwarf - DD
Hill Orc - HO
Merfolk - Mf
Halfling - Ha
Kobold - Ko
Spriggan - Sp
Naga - Na
Centaur - Ce
Ogre - Og
Troll - Tr
Minotaur - Mi
Tengu - Te
Draconian - Dr
Demonspawn - Ds
Demigod - Dg
Mummy - Mu
Ghoul - Gh
Vampire - Vp
Felid - Fe
Octopode - Op

Classes:
  Code:
Fighter - Fi
Gladiator - Gl
Monk - Mo
Hunter - Hu
Assassin - As
Artificer - Ar
Wanderer - Wn
Berserker - Be
Abyssal Knight - AK
Chaos Knight - CK
Death Knight - DK
Priest - Pr
Healer - He
Skald - Sk
Transmuter - Tm
Warper - Wr
Arcane Marksman - AM
Enchanter - En
Stalker - St
Wizard - Wz
Conjurer - Cj
Summoner - Su
Necromancer - Ne
Fire Elementalist - FE
Ice Elementalist - IE
Air Elementalist - AE
Earth Elementalist - EE
Venom Mage - VM

What are the rules that makes an abbreviation correct or incorrect, because they seem to be arbitrary?

Obviously it's the first letter of each word if it's two or more words, but otherwise is it the first two letters or the first letter of the first two syllables?

For example, Octopode is Op because those are on the syllables.
Spriggan is Sp because those are the first two letters, presumably because it has 3 syllables.

The rule has nothing to do with vowels because Centaur is Ce even though if you went by syllable, it'd be Ct, so why wouldn't Wanderer be Wa and not Wn?

The rules are "whatever the devs choose." Presumably it's usually what sounds best or what's most logical; in the example you gave with wanderer, it is probably wn and not wa because warper also starts with wa and because wa sounds dumb.

(also, spriggan has two syllables)

Usually I think of how I might abbreviate it if it were on a license plate, and I tend to be right. But yeah, if you're not sure, make one, lose, and see what the score screen lists it as. that's correct, even if it makes no sense. That's why we can have FeFE, HOMo, DECK, and a few other funny named combos.

It kinda defeats the purpose of being a CK, right?

Being a CK isn't about _purpose_ really.

This should definitely go on the Wiki once we can edit it again.

little known fact: the abbreviations are chosen first by using the first letter, then the second letter is defined after one properly calculated round of `eenie meenie miney moe.` During the rhyme, the first letter is omitted; in other words, the Ogre acronym's second letter is determined by the letters "gre" as dictated by the children's scientific method of choice. This is why, if Sarah Palin ever became a race, she would be called a "Sr" instead or "SP" or "SA" if she became a class
