Question 'bout ponderousnesness

My current character, having filled his other slots OK, is still having trouble finding boots. Of course, except for the pair of Boots of Runnning I found about two minutes after choosing a God.

So my question is, if I make the boots Ponderous, will the brand's slowdown remove the speed of the boots so that Chei doesn't get angry? Even better, will the boots' speedup cancel out the ponderous slowdown?

I guess that's two questions. Basically I want to have my cake and eat it too.
I am sure I played flawflessly. This was an utmost unfair death. -- gorbeh

I tested in wizmode, the boots of running can't be made ponderous. I also noticed that Chei didn't said anything when I put the boots, probably a bug.

He does when you try to move, though ("Cheibriados says you should slow down", I think).

You'll keep getting piety hits for wearing them.

No, he doesn't. I looked at the code, and it really looks like a bug.

Re: Question 'bout ponderousnesness

That's weird. It was a couple of days ago, but it happened in trunk... could it be in some other part of the code that just notices I moved faster than I should, without reference to the cause?

Re: Question 'bout ponderousnesness

"Cheibriados thinks you should slow down. You feel a little guilty."

It works fine on my locally compiled trunk build. There's no message for putting them on (perhaps there should be?) but they're marked red, described as disapproved of by Chei in the description, and that message appears when you move around (even if you're wearing other ponderous gear).

He only says in 1 time in 10, that's why I thought it wasn't working. You should get a message on putting them on, but you don't. Same problem with an amulet of rage. I know why and I'm fixing it.
