is there enough gold in the game to buy a 9900 gp item?

So, i found an awesome randart in a shop in the orc mines:

+6 Pearl Dragon Armor , rN+, Dam +2, Stealth ++

but it costs 9889 gp.

Is there even that much generated? How many Scrolls of Acquirement would I have to burn for $$?

I mean, buying that thing means not buying anything else and using all acquirement scrolls for the rest of teh game...
worth it?

For the record, I am running an XP 14 DspwnEE , with pretty great artifact polearm, fair dodge and AC, and doing OK.
I just need a second opinion re: this artifact being worth ignoring other things....

Thanks!

Save all your money before pan and only 2 scrolls of acquirement should suffice... if you're lucky

A good way to check that would be to look in the YAVP posts. But to save you the trouble: yes. Some of the shorter 3 rune games seem to have collected 10k gold total. My long-running 15-runer collected 22k gold. But if you really want gold, the best ways would be the abyss, pan, or Xom. Acquirement can work, yes, but it's pretty variable. And keep in mind that pearl dragon armor has a -3 evasion penalty, which means that depending on your character, spell success could take a nosedive.

that randart is ok, but absolutely not worth 10000 gp unless you have absolutely nothing else to spend any money on ever.

It's possible to get that much gold.

But it's more than likely by the time you can afford that, you won't need it anymore.

On gold acquirement:

Thanks everyone!

I checked out the learndb entry on acquirement...and looked at that average, divided the cost by the mean, and thought :"Damn"

Hm. If scrolls of acquirement give more gold then they cost in shops on average... well, that's a neat thing to know.

It's definitely not worth the time investment to grab all that gold for this item...
