Shaft into flame vault

Hi I shafted from V:1 to V:2 right into this Xom vault. I was lucky i already had a wand of teleportation, otherwise this would have been sure death. The walls are also not diggable, and scrolls could have burned (I didn't have one anyway). Is that a bug, or did I miss an obvious escape option?

Getting shafted is an experience that often lives up to its name.

The problem here was that he could NOT dig it.
You fall off the wall. You have a feeling of ineptitude.

Re: Shaft into flame vault

on a more serious note - did you train up traps to about lvl 8 ? if so you would have been better protected from evil shafts/zot traps.

I had 10 T&D. I normally get that much by Lair, as some promising characters died after getting banished from Lair:8

Re: Shaft into flame vault

Apparently that vault (Nemelex, not Xom) had no_rtele_into tags but they weren't actually properly applied to the fog rooms. Should be fixed now. Also, you can report this sort of thing on Mantis - getting stuck in a vault like that definitely qualifies as a bug.

Re: Shaft into flame vault

Glad you found the bug. I'm normally not shy to report on Mantis. This time I wasn't sure if it is a bug, just bad luck or me missing the obvious escape option.

Oh! And as you may have, or not have noted... This character went for a glorious victory. Would have been a shame if he died in that vault :)

a victory with a shields title is not "glorious"
(also, congratulations)
