Where do you guys usually make stashes?

Just curious what you do towards the end game as far as stashing goes. I noticed even with conservation my potions and scrolls still seem to get destroyed now and then. Is there a safe place for those near D27?

Vestibule.

Seconding vestibule. Its many entrances make it very convenient to get to. That said, if you're clearing entire levels as you go, most stuff can just be left on the floor wherever.

If you can go into water and there's deep water in Vestibule, that is the very best place to stash.

Temple, Lair:2, Hive:2 (if playing older version), Vestibule stairs, Vestibule underwater if Merfolk/Octopode.

Sometimes if Merfolk/Octopode in deep water in dungeon.

Also a safe temp place is the stairs down square on a prior level.

ctrl+f all the way, except for consumables (wand, scrolls, potions).

Good stuff that enemies can't use like ?acuiqrement, ?enchantments, !cure mut and staff like that can be left on the ground anywhere. Equipment should go in Lair:2 or Vestibule. I never use Temple because I don't usually find the need to drop stuff by the time I get there, and Lair:2 is much more convenient because of its deeper depth and vicinity to two of your three runes. That being said, a 3-rune game doesn't really require the Vestibule as a stash because clearing it has become tougher (Hell Beasts trample) and you won't need that much stashing utility.

My first major stash is in Lair 2, and I never feel the need to change that afterward. Walking back to Lair might cost turns, but it only takes two keystrokes to autotravel there and my personal time and convenience is more important than my character's.

Dropping stuff on the floor does work fine for a lot of stuff, though.

Lair:1 has been fine for me so far, even though there's a small chance of non-beasts spawning. Then it's vestibule from there. Sometimes a closed room in Vault:1 or 2 is ok for semi-temp stuff, like:

and a ration or two, just in case. Then Vestibule, of course.

Hall of blades is somewhat safe as well. If you clean dancing weapons, that is.

Lair: 2 mainly with Vestibule as the second. Though I'll stash on Temple if I'm getting burdened and/or identified a nice consumables, such as Cure Mut, that I don't want an Orc Wizard to pop. I'll also make small stashes in corners or closed off rooms on some levels if I just have that much stuff I need to set somewhere. Also will make temporary stashes right before branch ends on some occasions.

The intent is to avoid having monsters who mess with your stashes. Vestibule sometimes has wandering regular monsters come downstairs.
