Legendary ghosts in Orc?

So I ran into a legendary player ghost on orc:3. Legendary ghosts are player level 27; so....

1) Shouldn't this be impossible, and

2) how did a level 27 player die in orc 3?

I was able to get away but it just doesn't strike me as that fair...

You can also use bots (sequell) to check what situation did the player die in. Maybe he got bored and firestormed himself to death? Or maybe it was god's wrath? I'm curious!

Probably was starving and desperately tried to reach the one food shop in Orc:4

Maybe a player who was fighting in Elf, escaped in Orc, followed, let's imagine, by a DE annihilator, and dies horribly in Orc !

I'd say starving to death on the way to the only food shop was a pretty good bet, if, you know, starvation was actually a thing in crawl. So chalk it up to boredom, stupidity, or alcohol (and any linear combination thereof).

starvation has cought me by surprise a couple of times. you know, you usually don't have to think that much about food, but then you forget to pick up some and then SUDDENLY you are starving and losing conciousness. It only happed to me like 2 times in 10000 games, but still

One time I accidentally sacrificed *all* of my permafood with Nemelex and almost starved on my way to a food shop, can't remember if it was in Orc or not. That was pretty funny actually. Other than that I once had insanely bad luck with food drops on a Spriggan (this was in like 0.5 or something, back before the guaranteed food vaults and higher rate of food spawns) and died indirectly to starvation as I was rapidly moving as fast as possible trying to find food and diving, eventually getting myself cornered by too much nasty stuff and died.

As for 27 character dead on Orc 3: Dude might have forgotten that he left some nasty orc pack with a Warlord, or some strong unique, behind on that level and went back for a shop only to be caught unawares. That plus some bad luck with rolls and/or other compounding factors could easily end some characters even at level 27. Ogre Mages and Orc Sorcerers both can have paralysis and spawn in Orc, and without any MR equipment numerous species would have a decent chance of being affected because their innate MR even at level 27 isn't good enough. (Bonus points if dude was a "blaster" wearing the robe of folly and was relying entirely on EV for defense.)

Did you know that when drawing the famine card from Deal Four you first get down to 500 satiation, and then pay the food cost of Deal Four, leaving you at 100-300? I actually starved twice this way.
