Where to go now?

I've been playing a pretty awesome level 13 FeBe with a +0, +4 ring of slaying, ring of sustenance, and an amulet of clarity. I've just cleared Lair+Orc, but now I've got a dilemma about where to go next. Should I clear Hive or Swamp? I need rPois for both, but the amulet of clarity should be able to negate the swamp drakes' mephitic clouds in Swamp, and I see no real reason to do Hive since food is not an issue (royal jellies might be nice, though). Or should I wander a bit more into the dungeon to look for a ring of poison resistance/randart jewelry?

Swamp shouldn't be too bad, but run far, far away if you see any swamp dragons. Clarity doesn't help against them at all.

There's no point in wearing the Ring of Sustenance. You have slow metabolism and carnivore, and the ring cannot reduce your hunger rate below 1. It also has no effect on hunger costs for abilities like berserking.

Looking in D for the entrance to Vaults is feasible, too. Below that point, D will start to get dangerous.

Swamp is doable without clarity or rPois. Just sneak around the swamp drakes. The place is wide open, so you don't need to engage every enemy to get through. Alternatively, a source of levitation can replace clarity- it's pretty hard to drown above the water. This requires caution though- you wanna be alone and reasonably safe while you're stumbling around, confused, trying to land the last hit on the annoying cloud spammer. Swamp dragons will require rPois though, or enough hp to ignore it. And they're harder to sneak around. However, if you're lucky, it's possible none will spawn above Swamp:5, and the end vault won't be one that has them. Not that it matters, since you should put off the rune vault anyways.

The real dangers in the swamp is the possible waves of uniques. They're less predictable and harder to be prepared for.

The hive is also doable without rPois. For a mele build, you need some combination of being strong enough to take out a group of bees, evasive enough you avoid getting poisoned too much, and fast enough to fall back when you do. Or do it late enough it doesn't matter. :p

As a Troglodyte you do have a good fallback if things go south- summon a brother in arms to distract them, then run. Hive bottlenecks are also a good place to use a cloud of fire from an exploded spellbook- the bees will fly and fry right into 'em.

as above, wear ring of strength not sustenance

leave potion of cure mutation at the lair

I would do regular dungeon now, swamp is same risk/lower reward in your no situation (no rPois, don't need dragon swamp armor)

hive is excellent piety regain, so stay away from it right now, you have ****** right now

with brothers you can basically deal with everything in dungeon, you can look from safe distance how you rock troll kills ancient lich.Yoda style advice: use them, but use them wisely ;)

useful stuff for you; everything that would remove some of your fragility: ring of fire resistance, amulet of guardian spirit

Alright, that sounds good, thanks. Should I go to D:20ish to find the Vaults entrance and some decent jewelry, then come back to Swamp and try to take that on?

Oh one more advice, you can't relay on wands, so you should split (half) yours scrolls and stash them, in case if molted dragons sticky flame hits you.
