Don't enter spider nest. Default order is Lair 6, Orc 2, Dungeon 15 and only after that some Lair branch, you will be higher than level 12 at this point. rPois and EV are better than AC for the character in Spider Nest.

Cleared lair and D15. I did have a couple Felid deaths and of course having my summons fo most killing is keeping my level lower.

Point is moot.
Found a lovely ring in a shop in Orc.
