Dumb AM ranger 13- Oklob sapling

Ok, sort of stuck. The temple is right next to an Oklob sapling. Use an invis potion to get in? Only have one, and do not have a ton of AC or hp.

Not sure about the layout without actually seeing the map, but usually you can get pretty close to the oklob because there are some plants around. And then you can just run into the temple.

If not, invisibility is a good idea. Maybe also use agility.

Re: Dumb AM ranger 13- Oklob sapling

Oklob sapling has 14-30 HP and deals 3d7 damage. So if you have more than 21 HP, you can try killing it from range (should not be a problem for AM), retreating to heal if necessary. It's not like you are wasting piety while doing it.

If I understand what you mean, you are suggesting to shoot the oklob from edge of los and retreat if you get low on HP, then rest and try again, repeating until the oklob dies. This has the risk of running out of ammo before the oklob dies, and being unable to retrieve it because the ammo is under the oklob... The odds of getting screwed in this way depend on how strong the character is.

grinrain, if you are going to try this way, I would suggest starting out by slowing the oklob plant. If you take damage any damage while applying the slow, rest and try again. Only start shooting when you are at full HP looking at a slowed oklob.

Exactly. So if playing seriously, I'd suggest using fsim first to see how likely the sapling is to die before running out of ammo.

Had somehow collected 150 arrows, so for once that was not a problem. Getting it slowed and just plinking worked. Thought about invising to the temple, and then poping in and out of the temple to kill given it was right next to the entrance.

Now dropping 3 levels and landing next to two molten gargoyles was a different story.

A wand of paralysis or polymorph from max range should do the trick.
