I've tried a few in the past and found you could lean on trogs hand a lot more than usual since you're not getting gifts.
So, remember you're fast, even faster with berserk. Pump Evocations because you're going to have to be doing that a lot...
I'm sure there's opinions abound. I guess I'm asking for advice on how best to tackle Week 3 of CSDC.

The main thing to do is to fight all dangerous fights (which is almost almost all fights) in a way such that you can berserk and wait off your post-berserk exhaustion somewhere safe, preferably on a cleared floor. Post-Beserk slow can make things really dangerous.
Groups of ranged enemies are really dangerous.
I'm really hoping to get invokable invis, Spiders, and Swamp.

I'd go straight UC (focused) and Stealth till Lair (maybe add a little Fighting ?)
You'll stab most monsters and you berserk will let you kill the other part. Then I'd work a little on Dodging + Evocations (hopefully Orc shops will give you nice misc items)

I went with *fighting *UC +dodging +stealth +evocations at the start, and now sometimes switch to +fighting *UC *dodging +stealth +evocations. I focused fighting initially to prevent myself getting one-hit killed. My dump is here:

In my previous FeBe games the groups of ranged monsters in Snake and Shoals caused so many (near-)death experiences that I decided to come back to Snake and Shoals after completing The Dungeon, Orc, Elf, Slime, and a bit of depths. At XL 21 Shoals wasn't as scary any more.
Going with the same plan makes getting the bonus points unlikely (because there'd be lots of opportunities to get killed) and makes an ascetic rune almost impossible, I think.
Is there any way I could still get some bonus points?
I guess I should be happy if I manage to get at least 8 points this week. I didn't manage to do that either of the previous weeks.

Honestly just turn on fighting dodging stealth and evocation and don't really focus on your skills (may want focus a bit more on UC earlier on). There really isn't much to it. Clear each floor staying close to the stairs and lure every monster to it and berserk before hand if its dangerous. Ascetic rune is probably quite doable as long as you have decent wands. I'll probably sit out of this challenge as FeBe is large test of patience, and crawl is too long of a game for me to sit through it. To make matter worse, when I die as a felid, I am revived...

How can a Felid deal with groups of naga sharpshooters or merfolk javelineers (with extra merfolk who may carry nets)?
The only things I've found to work are extremely generous consumable usage and being extremely overleveled

+inv would help tons in shoals, most enemies there can't see invis.
Vs nagas you have to hope you have enough scrolls of fear to kick anacondas off you near stairs, and otherwise use speed + luring to isolate sharpshooters, force them close using LoS around corner, then berserk to kill them 1v1. Painful, slow, and will probably dip a bit into your permafood, but with carnivorous that's not going to hurt you in the long run.
Shock serpents would necessitate wands, especially w/o rElec.

I did it recently when it came up on !next. It sucked. The first try I abandoned Trog early on, but that wasn't a good plan. I can't recall the details too much, but I think after that, I focused on super high stealth and evasion, then it was a lot of hit 'n run with UC. Use an acrobat amulet. !next gave me a FeWz a couple combos later, which wasn't much fun either. That game was pretty much all about statue form. I suppose it may be possible to switch off Trog somewhere like the abyss if you manage a high level of stealth and can train blink right off the bat, and have a pile of teleport scrolls. Probably any felid combination can operate fairly normally with statue form and dragon form to a lesser degree.

I pretty much spammed Brothers in Arms, and I reached ******. I think I've used a Bro for every encounter with a Naga Sharpshooter. Those encounters are still scary.

I don't believe in stealth on Be at all, since you can't get the spells that make stealth good. It is more useful than high levels of Evocations like you see in this morgue (especially since felids couldn't use wands at the time), but I would not put a single skill point in it until quite late in the game when fighting/unarmed/dodging are already very high.
It's seriously quite easy if you just play it like any other melee character of Trog, obviously it's not as good as a ranged combat character but people still win melee berserkers all the time. The impact of gifts on piety is overblown unless you are hovering around fairly specific piety values.

Maybe if you waste all your xp in stealth and evocations. But as long as you train unarmed combat it does just fine against all monsters.

The point of the stealth on a felid isn't so much to do more damage with stabs over regular unarmed combat, but so that you take less damage. Because your AC is so bad, a few unlucky rolls can make a mess of your felid. Wasting XP on stealth on a felid isn't really that much of a thing given the extremely high aptitude. Also, it allows you to pick and choose which fights you want to get into. You'll also receive the full benefit since you can't wear armour even if you want to.
I fully believe UC can kill stuff "just fine", but with 3 AC, you may not have the time to deliver it, that's the problem. I generally am not a fan of stealth builds, in fact I'm extremely critical of them. So, for me to endorse stealth, is a pretty extreme case. I'm amazed you're shooting it down. Also, it's totally wasting the special UC stab/claws mutation. You may not get the stab on everything, but you will get stabs on a lot of things, and for each thing you get the stab, you reduce your chances of dying to one more monster. All the XP "saved", from stealth going into UC won't make as big of a dent overall after UC goes up to mid levels anyhow. The low hanging fruit is juicier.

With Fe +4 stealth apt, I can't understand why someone would not want to train a few levels in the early/mid game regardless of background.

Ascetic is just good to attempt in this run because that is the hardest challenge, and you get multiple deaths to get it. I do agree that it is hard, but it is better to lose the T1/T2 bonus and get the ascetic bonus vs not getting the ascetic bonus.
I've personally found a few early levels of stealth (esp. with the apt.) useful just to walk away from dangerous enemies. Bit surprised you find FeBe easy, based on the experience of various DCSS streamers it seems like it is anything but easy.

Fe have claws, reduced movedelay, a little size modifier to EV, and passive life saving. As Be, you also have Trog. These things are powerful individually; together they are absurd.
Fe also have low max HP, however, and their primary defense is based around sometimes taking max damage. Coupled with Crawl's already-high monster damage variance, this means that you
really have to judge encounters appropriately. This can mean preemptively walking away, or it can mean using items/magic/god abilities to make the encounter safe before engaging.
Players who are poor at judging encounters will find Fe harder to play. Players who are fine at judging encounters but are also impatient and prefer to spam buttons will find Fe annoying to play.
Fe have the toolkit to be powerful, but your gameplay sense needs to be better than "Oops, tab took me down to 50% again", and you have to be willing to play a slower game because unfavourable dicerolls will happen and your max HP buffer against poor judgment isn't going to be large.

If you look at the top players this week, pretty much all of them spend the first 1-3 XLs training stealth exclusively. The tournament page seems to be down right now but IIRC it was similar but slightly less pronounced with last week's KoGl challenge. I'd say that if you aren't planning to use armour heavier than leather early on and you're one of the 15 (of 27) races that have a +2 stealth modifier this is absolutely a good strategy.
There's a tendency to undervalue stealth because sleep-stabbing isn't reliable. Stealth isn't about making the most optimized 1v1 killman (which if you're playing Felid is already out of the question)--it's about being able to choose who, when, and where to fight.

Combos become harder all the time and it is logical, first combos should be easy so that multiple less experienced players don't abandon the tournament but now we have a situation when there are multiple players who got 10 in all 2-3 games and we need somehow differentiate them if they continue playing that great and get all one-time bonuses. Max score of a game is not convincing enough, I expect just a few players get 10 points in last round.

Not likely IMHO. Hard challenge with easy combo is what we had in first rounds. Also that can result in lots of players with 7 points. My bet is on hard challenge as hard combo for maximal differentiation.

I trained stealth all game and finished with 27. It seems Yermak did that too, and we weren't alone. No problems killing popcorn. A fair amount of my kills were sleep/distraction stabs, but more importantly large % of monsters don't notice you, or you can meow for attention and run away and quite a few things quickly forget about you, making it trivial to isolate into 1v1 or 1v2 situations.
For anything dangerous to fight 1v1, BIA makes it less dangerous (Mennas, Mara, Sojobo all died to angry trolls for example, though Mara also got "has not noticed you" stabbed).
Also, since felids are fast you could even just run away and back to fish out "hasn't noticed you" stabs until you get them. Completely unnecessary but you could do it.

I believe that this is true because of pressure to get one-time bonuses (you have 5 weeks only) and that FeBe isn't a horribly weak combo assuming very patient and close to optimal play (You are playing a fast species with a strong god and multiple lives. I do understand that you can die due to rng with a felid.)

I ended up dying in slime, when I didn't preemptively berserk against an acid blob. It could have been avoided. The previous 2 lives had been lost against another acid blob and against a Deep troll earth mage, who overcame all my defences with dig+LRD. I was probably underleveled for Slime, but there was nothing else I wanted to do first. For anyone interested, here is the morgue:

I'd definitely recommend guardian spirit over faith. You had one available in orc. It's a non-trivial amount of extra HP/regen drawing from a pool you basically don't use otherwise with trog. On an ogre or something it would be different but we're talking > 25% increase on your base (non-berserk) health by wearing it in this week's challenge.

If you aren't using trog's piety pool, you're doing it wrong. GS is definitely good too, but you should be using the heck out of BiA, particularly on a FeBe.

You can certainly make a case he should therefore have leveraged the faith boost more to prevent dying in slime (morgue did have ****** piety), but I found I wasn't strapped for piety despite using the ability fairly liberally until I was well into Zot. IMO guardian spirit is the way to go when you're this frail, especially if you have > 100 BIA across a game w/o faith anyway. Mana --> HP is a resource, too.

Oops. I didn't realise. Faith was the 2nd amulet I tried on, and I got used to not being able to identify amulets after that. I probably would have switched to guardian spirit if I realised I could, despite the ugly piety hit.

My argument was not "faith is more valuable than gs is" but "if you use zero piety with trog you're missing out"
My last febe i has used bia 39 times by xl15 with GS and i was struggling to keep my piety bar full. If faith had dropped i probably would have considered switching (i might have stuck with gs, but i wouldn't have dismissed the choice as an obvious one)

Using zero piety on any god that consumes piety is a mistake. Only stuff like Ru followers and demigods should be using "zero piety", or close to that.
I do feel GS is a relatively obvious choice on FeBe though, which is why I said all this. Between evoke options, potions, and berserk you can even out piety consumption a bit, but there are precious few ways to increase the number of hits you can take before you die on a Felid. Berserkers also have no opportunity cost on extending their hp bar with mana other than the item worn to attain it, in contrast with hybrid builds/casters or even some other god invocations.
Knowing the game allows for 100+ uses of BIA w/o faith amulet, the marginal value of GS appears significantly higher, especially since it takes you out of crystal spear 1-shot range and a lot of 2-shot ranges and offers more safety when maneuvering around things like yaktaur packs.
All that said, GS isn't guaranteed early, and faith is one of the next best options.
