How does Shadow Creatures work when worshipping good gods in areas that only have undead or other evil monsters, eg Crypt?
Does the spell fail or are there always some non-evil monsters that can be summoned?

It summons non-evil monsters from the generation list for that branch, eg. bennu in Tomb, angels in Pan, iron dragons in Dis etc. Crypt has no such monsters, so it summons nothing and the MP is lost IIRC.

Fun fact: casting Shadow Creatures in Abyss can summon a 'friendly' Lurking Horror, which will still quite happily torment you when it dies (and is considered non-evil for the purposes of good gods)
