So I've never really played with Ru before and I tried to look for posts on this god but searching "ru" doesn't work so well. Any vets care to share some tips for using Ru with a primary melee character? Say, HO or Mi? Thanks in advance.

In general, take the sacrifice that gives you the most piety, unless it's love, artifice, words, or drink. You want to hit full piety as soon as possible.

+1 for most valuable sac every time, but depending on chars I'd avoid sac hand, and consider not terrible to get words or drink - but never those two together.

Apocalypse is a better opening move than it is a panic button.

Unless you're bad about using wands and evocables, then artifice is a great sacrifice. Similarly, love and allies. Though "Sacrifice Lightning Spire" is a big issue for basically every character.

(Note: The good advice is not to sacrifice those things. But honestly, I've sacrificed artifice in the past, when I was really bad about using my wands, and it was a net positive. I'm still PRETTY bad about it, but getting better to the point I'd hesitate a lot more.)

Sac Love is not great for winning but is great for not needing to deal with allies

"Oh well, I would have cast animate skeleton 600 times but I took sac love so I guess I can't"

I love to sacrifice love and evocations as those are free piety for me.

If you sac one of love/artifice/summoning, do the others give less piety? There are some great allies in evocations.
