Dead, and yet not

I seem to have frozen the system. In Tree form, starving. Too hungry to rest, can not move, can not trigger a turn. Suggestions?

You can wait one turn by hitting . or swing your weapon (or tree branches if unarmed) in a direction by hitting ctrl+(direction) or pass a turn shouting with tt. Lots of ways to pass the time.

Does swinging a weapon still spend extra satiation in latest versions?

AFAIK it does. Removing/putting a ring on is the shortest ordinary action possible at 5AUT.

Re: Dead, and yet not

It's actually faster to equip a weapon. Why? Because taking it off is the fastest action.

Putting on a weapon is the same as a ring, 5 auts, but unequipping a weapon and going to bare hands is only 3 auts. So don't switch to another weapon; switch to nothing.

However that's only if you want to spend as little time as possible - OP probably just wants to wait until the end of tree form, and so should just press . to pass a turn.

I need to know. Did this work? Can you get out of treeform? Did you starve to death?

I am in suspense over your suspension of time in the suspense of treeform by your suspension of posting here.

Re: Dead, and yet not

I'm actually really curious to know how tree form affects hunger.. theres no sunlight but plenty of nutrients in the ground your roots could pull up. Plus whats stopping you from directing spell hunger to the ground? Ofcourse, I assume Crawl does none of this but it seems like a missed opportunity not to give tree form slow metabolism and some form of spell hunger reduction. Honestly.. I just like the idea of wizards turning into trees to hide before casting spells.

As of 0.19 the wiki says that Treeform sets your hunger to Satiated and you don't continue to hunger while in Treeform. I don't know if that's still the case.

Even if that is true, you could be hit down to starving by a hungry ghost after treeforming, I guess.

I just checked in wizmode; hunger seems to proceed normally, and holding down . works to die.
