Hi, im trying to win all mummies for greatrace. Transmuter doesnt seem to be selectable in the current version so is there any way to play it or is it time to start enjoying another race?

I guess you have to play an older version where MuTm is available (at least 0.9 has it). But you don't need it for greatrace, since it is not a playable combo in the current version.

Why cant mummies transmute? Have the devs really not grown up with Thundercats? I call shenanigans, we're being robbed.

No seriously, why can't mummies transmute?

Their wrapping is fragile and can't sustain magic manipulation.

Dragon form with immunity to torment would be completely broken in extended IMHO.
Also Necromutation would be a "give me 6 AC and MR for huge investment" spell, that would clearly uncover evil "trap for new players" plan which devs have

Why would Tm be disallowed for mummies, whether they can transmute or not? It's the player's fault if they pick a terrible background for their species.

I can see why you can't have Dg pick zealot backgrounds, but this is different.

Sticks to Snakes is in the book, and they're even better at casting it than some other races!

(That said, there would need to be special case code anyway to prevent them from starting the game with beastly appendage memorized. I imagine this was a simpler solution.)

Plus they can still cast Passwall, Sticks to Snakes (which incidentally is in the Tm starting book) and Petrify.

There's a special case that makes DrFi not start with scale armour.

Is there a homebrew fork without the silly transumtation/berserk limitations on undead? I would play the hell outta that.

No but I'll remove those limits in hellcrawl unless someone provides a design justification for their existence itt by the end of the month.
