Beogh-Allies' equipment specifics

Heya, it's-a-me, I have a few questions.
I'm playing version 0.20.1.

So I can give allies equipment, are there any restrictions on what they can get?

I've noticed that Beogh occasionally upgrades my orcs' equipment, how exactly does this work? Do my gifted weapons and armors get upgraded? Do antiques get upgraded? Can Beogh convert my +1 Spear of Piercing into a +9 Glaive of Strong-Hitting?

Will Beogh gift ammo for ranged weapons I give? Will he upgrade the ranged weapons I give?

How does Beogh gift armor?

Is there any way to make managing allies less hectic?
If not, have there been proposals to make the ally system less hectic?

EDIT: Also, how do NPCs handle heavy equipment? Will me giving an orc warlord a Gold Dragon Armor hinder his/her fighting power? Will me giving an orc warlord a Glaive make him/her less accurate?

Somebody just had a long thread on precisely this topic, not sure I think its in this forum tho so maybe search around?

Might be a good idea to put this information in his help screen somewhere, seeing as how often it gets asked.

Any weapons and armor that can have enchantment scrolls used on them can be enchanted by beogh.

Beogh will gift ammo sometimes.

Giving orcs big slow weapons will make them slower to attack and less accurate, it's not really worth it because most of their damage comes from their "base damage" from their monster type. Give your orcs a buncha spears.
